CAMP QUALITY

http://www.campquality.com/camps/north_ontario/index.html

There are six camps located across Canada. All year-round programs are volunteer-run, community-funded and are available at absolutely no cost. The year-round program includes family weekends, reunions and fun days for the whole family. The signature week-long camping program provides a wonderfully unique opportunity for children with cancer to put their illness behind them and concentrate on having fun! Each camper is matched with a trained adult volunteer and medical staff is on-site.

Camp Quality is more than a camp. It's a non-profit, volunteer organization which provides a year-round support program for children with cancer and their families. Camp Quality is committed to offering beneficial and value-added support programming to children with cancer and their families across Canada.

The Camp we support is situated close to Alban, Ontario. Camp Quality allows young people with cancer to be young again by giving them opportunities to have fun, make new friends and maintain old relationships in a warm, accepting and carefree atmosphere removed from stress. It is also there to provide families of children with cancer a needed rest. While children are in the care of Camp Quality, parents can be assured that their child is in the care of well-trained and supportive volunteer staff. Camp Quality also provides year round support to those same families through ongoing contact. This year round program is possible because of the generosity of a wide range of donors.

DYNAMIC EARTH

http://dynamicearth.ca/dynamic-earth.html

We have committed to the Dynamic Earth Phase II expansion project in conjunction with the area credit unions. We are sponsoring the Nickel City Stories exhibit which is based on the multimedia theatres developed at Science North and uses a number of different effects to bring the city’s history to life. The theatre is in an engaging multi-media setting and people can listen in as "Louie", curator of Sudbury’s oral history, recounts the fascinating historical events that shaped Sudbury’s 120-year history.

MINNOW LAKE DAYS

http://www.minnowlake.ca/lakedays.htm

We sponsor a kids fishing day as a part of Minnow Lake Days that takes place on the third Saturday in July. It is a catch and release event designed for children. (We have put the event on the past few years, but unfortunately we couldn’t do the event this year). All proceeds of the Minnow Lake Days Festival goes towards Minnow Lake Restoration.

Our Second Avenue branch is located in Minnow Lake and is one of two financial institutions to serve the neighbourhood.

NORTHERN ONTARIO SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

http://www.normed.ca

In 2005, Northridge Savings started a bursary for Northern Ontario students so they can attend the school of medicine located at Laurentian (Sudbury) or Lakehead University (Thunder Bay).

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine’s mission is to improve the health of the people and communities of Northern Ontario by advancing the highest quality of medical practice, learning, teaching, research and professionalism. Enrolment of Northern Ontario students in existing medical schools is at a ten year low. With the medical school in Northern Ontario, Northerners will have more opportunity to pursue medical education, thus increasing the number of physicians on Northern communities.

The endowment fund created by Northridge’s donation, along with the funds created by many other local organizations, will provide financial aid for students for years to come. This financial aid will allow students to focus on their studies, research and clinical education.
